Thanks Hayweed! Here is the engine after I started washing it...

That is going to look so bad ass! Did you come up with this idea or have you seen this done before? I have never seen anything like it.. Its a really neat idea.

In joey's defense, these like the last two are usually done with hand chisels and other assorted tools and take HOURS and HOURS .

Also in Joeys defense.. The bottom two look like they belong on Liberace's bike. The knuckles one is kinda cool. In any case people have done it.. I just have never seen it before.

Hey weirdbeard, I have never seen a bike done but I woodburn a lot and have a walking stick I put these helmets and the shields on and just happened to see the engraving bit for my dremel while strolling through lowes and thought I would try it! I found a gold inlay kit that I want to get next week and try to inlay the engravings and then polish the covers and see how they look like that but have never inlayed either so that should be a fun experience too!

Damn! dragon I am drooling over those pieces!!!!!!! One day I hope to have the patience to do some like that!

I cut this out and woodburned it to put on my grandparents place of rest...the first photo has clear on it the second is before I cleared it...



...and this is the walking stick I mentioned earlier, I cut this wood from my grandparents property...and have not finished it but am putting the family crests on it, as well as other sentimental pieces...

Those are really neat.. I had a wood burner when I was a kid.. It frustrated me how long it took to burn. You probably have a better one than I did, but still.. Wow you must have some serious patients.

I have been wanting to make something for my grandparents.. Thats really inspiring.

Yeah I was blessed with wonderful grandparents, and parents for that matter, all of which taught and made me the man I am today...I just have a regular old kids woodburner nothing special...but yeah it can be frustrating but I just do it at night when I can't make noise with engines hehehe!

I would keep at it. Sure looks to me like you have yourself a second income there once you get rollin.

Been trying to get all the stuff done at work because I will be on vacation from wed-fri. next week to go to Barber's Vintage Bike Festival, and getting Caroline and other things ready to go around the house....still have lots to do and not much time to do it!

I just took some pics of the engine sitting togethor and painted but it will be tonight before I get them posted up...got to run around a little still...I went a little off the grid with the colors though as I wanted something different!!! Talk to you tonight if you are on

OK I finally made it in from the shop let me get these pic's loaded up...

I decided against powdercoating these pieces and went with painting them instead...went a little off the grid with the color choices as I wanted something a little unique, but remember it is a race bike theme...the paint is the following
Block and head-metallic titanium silver blue.
Cylinders-flat black.
Valve cover and intakes-burnt bronze...I will be accenting a couple more pieces this color as well.

Took a break from engraving/polishing to get this painting done so now I will get back to that...I am really still up in the air as to what finish I will use on the sidecovers and oil pan...whether they be painted and the engravings hand painted or polished with the engravings colored with gold inlay...

That's what I love about bikes, you can paint the motors and it will stay. Unlike my v8 builds, one season and they'll be ugly again

*CORRECTION-The color I stated above is incorrect, it is not burnt bronze it is metallic burnt copper...I have a bronze project coming up so I was thinking about bronze...*

I bought my engraving bit and now I have to find the detatchable collar for my dremel. My tank and tail will be getting paint today or tomorrow in it's new color so Dolores won't be ashamed to be parked next to Caroline in B'ham this week!

Ashamed...what are you talking about man, Dolores is a beautiful bike and will stand proud wherever you park her! She looks great now but I can not wait to see your new paint so make sure you post up some pic's for us! I put a couple rounds of electrical tape around the base of my bit and slipped it into the dremels collar and it stayed in nice and tight. Yes I am going to do a few other parts in the bronze color, definately the oil filter box that goes on the front of the engine and am considering the oil pan but am unsure on that yet. Make sure you guys bring us back some pic's from barbers too bro!
