Ha! No man I just want to make more room up front for my carburetors and put in tube for the backbone instead of the sheetmetal that was there from the factory.

Well that is just not fair Brothers...I am supposed to be eating popcorn while I watch you work! Hahahaha!
I did get some work done today! I started to build my header, I am loading the pic's now so they will be posted here in a few.

I set the engine in the frame cradle so that I can start getting the measurements for the exhaust and the frame bars. I got this Yoshimura exhaust can from Brother Biggerjim and started sanding it today to get it ready for polishing.
I have a couple of different ideas for a header so I started building the first one to see what it would look like. This is just the tubing and I still need to weld the collars to the front and build a collector for the rear. I may add a bend two thirds of the way down as I feel it needs a little more shape.
I am also thinking about building another header designed with more bends and the pipes stacked at the end to see what it would look like. The header will not be red that is just the color of the tubing I am using.

I did not think the first header fit this bike so I started a new design today!
I really like this one and it is the one I will be using!

Thank you Brothers!
I worked on the exhaust can I got from Brother Biggerjim today! It was longer than I wanted so I cut five inches out of it. I am going to mount it straight off of the header. I am sanding it now to get it ready for polishing.
Here is how long it was.

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! NEW PHOTO!
did you repack the baffle too or just cut it all down?
cant tell if it was riveted or tacked from the pic WB, but usually pop the end off the can, remove packing and baffle, and cut the CAN down to size you like.
most baffles and packing are 3-6" shorter than the can anyway.
curious on what the insides looked like too. was the baffle tacked onto the inlet pipe?

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! NEW PHOTO!
Very carefully Brother Weirdbeard! A lot of cans are put togethor differently but it is basically like Brother 01YZF6 said.
I got really lucky on this can as it has three allen head screws for disassembly and it also had a slip joint on the inside. The baffle pipe is fastened to the outlet end of the can and the inlet pipe is fastened to the inlet collar with an internal slip joint to connect the two. I cut the slip joint out, left the baffle pipe in the can and removed the packing so she will be nice and loud!
I also ground the yoshimura raised lettering off of the outlet end of the can and am going to engrave DWMS Racing into the end and paint the cup in the end the copper to match the rocker box and polish the can to a mirror finish.
I am going to weld the header, mid pipe, and inlet pipe on the can all togethor so it will all be one piece with no clamps and look really clean.

nice work Joey !
have to say you are correct about each can being different. I have made 3 or 4 stubby exhausts with DIFFERENT mfr.'s each being assembled different.
