We moved here during the event a couple years back so we missed it. They had Willie Nelson back then. Will just have to see how work goes.

I remember that year, didn't make it.

Events on Sat's I can never make. *sigh*

If you don't take Wednesday off, would you have to work Saturday then?

This is a great ride and event ...we try to make it every year. The ride is not till later in the day. Usually too cold for us to hang around for the concert. But nice day to walk around and usually a few good vendors there.

I'm going to try harder this year

I just got word that I am off the 4th. Maybe but will have to see. Boss still pulls his BS about having everyone open nice and early after a day off....

I hate to say it...but I am a little bummed out regarding participation in a lot of events.....something gets posted...and all you see are excuses for not being there....that is OK...this is just a free forum..and no requirements....maybe my expectations were too high...was hoping to find more L.A. (Lower Alabama!!) people interested in riding and some camaraderie.....must be me.....or maybe the rum......by the way.....Dragon.....those were awesome cherries!!!!!!!!!!! I want more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just for the record.....I have sidecar and back seat room for anyone wanting to do this ride on Saturday ...just let me know!

That would be kinky, I might handle the side car, I'd have to ride backwards on the back.

In your case, Scadoodle, I would put my cargo rack in to the receiver hitch and stick you back there!!

Great event. Dangerous ride. Last two times i rode in it there were several wrecks. When too many people get together there are too many distractions i guess. Two years ago there was a fatality crash.

Just be safe. I usually visit but dont do the ride anymore.

It is not just a ride...it is an adventure!!

Recipe for anyone who wants it:

Half gallon maraschino cherries (Sam's Club )
Pour off half the cherry juice
Refill with Bacardi 151 rum (one pint is about perfect )
Hardest part:
Place in a dark cupboard and shake once a month. Hardest part is leaving them alone for the first MONTH.
Longer they sit, the better they get. Mine have been soaking since last November.


As for the get togethers, yeah, many here have little to no time to ride anymore it seems. Myself included. Work runs me half to death with weird hours and double shifts. Others here have expressed the lack of desire to ride pack. Which is cool with me as I can relate to that. Try doing a 5 MILE long motorcycle funeral procession for 25 miles and being behind a woman who has ridden for less than 3 months overall on a full sized cruiser. Been there. I am personally not real comfortable with more than 8-10, but I always ride sweep anyway. What I always wonder about is that we try to hold events that do not REQUIRE riding at a place currently that is a restaurant not just a bar, therefore family friendly and people have the choice to drink or not to drink, to bring kids or not to, etc etc etc. We have as yet never held any kind of "drunken bash" of any sort, and even the annual BBQ I try to hold is the same way and situation. If ya wanna ride, ride. If ya don't wanna ride after, there are others that feel the same, hang with them and the those who wanna ride ride. never any pressure that I have ever seen to do ANYTHING except show up and share some brotherhood.

Truly I am at a loss. But as always if anyone has any suggestions at all, I will at least personally promise to take them to heart.

I got through the first 2 lines of the recipe and completely exceeded my entire attention span....afraid that sound like way too much work....so I figure...I will just drop by your house often until they are all gone!!!

As for the rest of that rant...good rant by the way.....They did have pretty good food at that bar. We had the small pizza's but I really had my eye on the fish dinner...maybe next time. Fairly inexpensive too....I think I had a few beers, two small pizza's and something else and it only came to $16.

Guess I am getting old and been doing all this stuff too long....yea riding in groups is a pain sometimes...but....I like bike events like the angel ride...went there for the first time a few years ago and enjoyed it so much...it is always on the calendar every year.

No Fear!!!! No Rules!!!! Just Ride!!!!!
