Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! NEW PHOTO!
It has been another busy week here at the shop so I have not been able to work on my bike until this weekend, it rained yesterday so I did some more sanding and started polishing my covers. Here are a couple photos of the first one that I almost have finished.
Here is a photo of the cover before I did any engraving or polishing.
Most of you have seen the engraving but here is how it looks after I started polishing it. It was hard to get a good photo of this cover, the gold behind the kings head is a reflection of the light on my ceiling, etc.

Man that is fine! I would put that on a chain and wear it as a huge necklace. I saw your light on the ceiling and thought you had messed up for a minute there.

Yeah man we could wear them like those big clock necklaces those guys were wearing back in the 1980's! Hahahaha!
Brother weirdbeard you can see the top of the door in front of the kings head and all of the lines you see in it are the ceiling tiles, I took several photos but the cover is so reflective it is hard to get a clean photo of it. I will take some better photos when the sun comes out and I am working on the clutch cover too so maybe I will have it polished soon!

I will make us a set to wear Brother Weirdbeard! I can just see us now! Hahahaha!
This photo is a little better than the first one I posted, I took this photo in the shade so it still does not show how bright the cover is.

Thank you Brother hayweed!
For the rear brakes I have decided to use this mcp mini pro lite dual line setup with a two piece two piston rear caliper, most of you are probably not familiar with them as we run them on our speedway racing karts but I thought they would be great for this project as they are small and clean.

Brother BIGGERJIM I am happy that you like it! You know that I want to keep this bike really clean so I like that this brake setup is small, it is different as well so I thought that it would go well with this build. I am going to mount the caliper on the front side of the rotor behind the rear frame section but I have not decided which way I want to mount the master cylinder yet.
Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! NEW PHOTO!
I designed and built this engine breather system.
Here are some of the parts I used and the bracket that I built.
Here is the can after I got the fittings in place and the can mounted to the bracket.
I also started building the right side header plate and welded two studs into the bottom of it.
I replaced the original fitting and added a second one to the engines top cover so that I could run dual stainless braided lines. Here is the breather system on the engine.

Brother 01YZF6 I hope all is well with your family and that you have a safe trip, I look forward to seeing you when you get back.
Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! NEW PHOTO!
I built the right side header plate yesterday so today I built the left side plate, finished shaving the front of the header for the correct angle, welded both plates onto the header and bolted the header to the engine.
Here is a photo of the header with both plates welded on.

Brother 01YZF6 I have been trying to decide on a color for the header, the copper would look cool!
Here are a few photos of the header and breather system bolted on the engine.

Yhank you Brother Paladin!
I decided to change the axle mounting area of the rear frame section so I cut a couple inches off of it and started boxing it in, I think it is going to look a lot cleaner and more streamlined this way. I also painted the center of the rear brake rotor while I had the rim off to do the framework.
I still need to do some more welding and smoothing but here are a couple photos.

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! NEW PHOTO!
Today I built the right side plate out of quarter inch steel to add strength to the rear frame section, I am also using this plate to mount my footpeg and brake master cylinder on. I am going to build a matching plate for the left hand side but it will only have a footpeg on it.
Here are a few photos, the plate I added today is behind the kickstarter and below the rear frame section. The silver circle on the plate is where my footpeg will be mounted.

Re: DWMS RACING CB550F SUPER REVERSE PORT! NEW PHOTO!
Brother Paladin it looks a lot closer than it is.
I have known from the beginning of this build the style of tail section that I was going to build but I have been having difficulty designing a bottom line that flowed with the bike and left enough room for the exhaust. Dad came by last night and we came up with a nice line that I really like!
This will be the centerline for the tail section, I still need to build the outsides. I am going to recess the bottom of the tailsection so that the frame tubing fits up underneath of it and can not be seen so when looking at this photo the bottom of the tube will be the bottom of the tail.
I am also going to follow this line for the exhaust and I am no longer going to use the exhaust can that I shortened for this bike, I am now going to build a dual exhaust system that will exit underneath the rear of the tail section.
Here is a photo, the flat coming off of the rear of the tank will be a single seat and the angle at the rear will be a race tail.

wow ! looking good Joe...
I have been out of town lately helping an uncle out, and by the time I get home am exhausted.
I will be in Mobile this coming weekend, not sure after that, but need to come by and see things in person again...
