Dam Ride Sunday 8/8/10 - Who is going?

What time since all of the changes of venue and day?

(Still on the fence though, edera's health takes precendence. )

Time's are still the same for meeting up. Depends on route for the rest.

Count me in! I'm having riding withdrawls! Weed's too busy fixing things lately to take me. It is a great route! Everyone should enjoy it!

OK, recap. My Thoughts, and again, I am easy and am usually not a leader. I don't know all the hand signals and such as that of a ride leader, so if anyone else really wants to ride up front, I am good with that too.

I have been to the Lock and Dam, LRSP and Monroeville. I enjoy riding and this map is 153 Miles round trip. Nothing is super twistie or some sort of "awesome" run, but its all good scenery to me. Hwy 41 out of Monroeville is pretty curvy best of my memory though.

Google says 3 hours and 41 minutes non-stop, so I am guessing 5 cause we aren't in a hurry right? That puts us at Stagecoach around 1 or 1:30PM

1- Meet SUNDAY morning, 7AM- Hardees parking lot, Bay Minette. Meet, greet, eat and leave 7:30ish

2- Pull into Atmore somewhere. No idea but a gas station for a short stretch and anyone needing a quick restroom break, cause the way I see it, we are all past the "spring chicken" age

3- Pop up into Little River State Park, short ride to the station and not much to see, but its worth the stop just so others will know its there. Looks like a great place to take the kids fishing or an overnight get-away without going so far away.

4- Monroeville, not alot to see but I do think the Town Square is neat. (At least last time I was there) So we ride through and out towards the Lock.

5- Claiborne Lock and Dam. Beautiful area with picnic tables, boat launch and a Museum at one end. (I've not been to it though) Coming out of the Lock and Dam, one hill I remember made me pucker....but you will see.

6- Purdue Hill- Turn and head down Hwy 1 headed to StageCoach. NOTHING but country along this road. One very old house stands out to me that I am sure I will point out.

7- Planned stop at the little country store in Little River Area. Just to stretch, grab a drink.

8- Stage Coach!! Iced Tea and Sunday Buffet! Eat and say our farewell's until next time. Should be about 2 when we are done.

I hope this is ok with everyone. Like I said, I am easy, and just want to ride. I have kicked this around and really do want to meet some local folks who don't care what I ride, just that I ride.

You put WAY too much time in planning. But I think it will be well worth it. Sweet.

We will likely have to pass. She has not been cleared by the Drs. For a long cruise as yet. Even in the car these days,we have to stop every hour for her to stretch and loosen the cable tight muscles she is enduring.

wondering is the ride still gonna happen or not..Dragon the cap fit perfect..I will come over and pay ya Monday unless you gonna work tomorrow we could come over then..let us know...and Thanks for all your help

Sounds like several are going to be riding, Char. By all means don't anyone cancel because we have to, there will be other times for us to come along. Just that after she wrecked (and totaled ) her bike a little over a year ago, breaking her pelvis in 3 places having all sorts of bolts and chains put in to hold her all together and spending 13 weeks in a wheelchair, her recovery has been slow.

I work tomorrow from 7AM to 7 PM. Monday from 9 to 7. Either way is fine. Just happy I could help out, the money is far secondary.

Hey Dragon, hop in the car with the better half and come eat breakfast with us, or better yet, meet us for lunch at the Stage Coach. Figure out how long it would take you to get there and we can call you when we are that many minutes out. Just sayin......
