THIS COMING SUNDAY Empty THIS COMING SUNDAY

Post by TheOldGuy Tue Nov 29, 2011 9:45 am

Anybody want to get together and do something zany this coming Sunday? Form up somewhere on the Eastern Shore? Brunch or lunch and a loosely-focused meander afterward? Just a ride? Search-and-Terrify mission for blue-haird ladies in Buicks? Bring gallons of free drinking water to the Melting Pot? Whatever? Weather's predicted to be clear as a bell with a high of 71.

Hadn't noticed that -- a worthy cause indeed, but more hoopla than I want to deal with. I think the bride and I will just look for a good meal in Baldwin County and a nice local ride with a few pleasant companions.

She dumped it and it killed the battery, since it was down, I added some driving lights for here, did her 12,000 mile check up, cleaned the starter and put on new tires. She's good to go for a while. She didn't tell me that it was probably laying down for a hour till after I got it done. I also found some corroded light connections and loose grounds. It was fun taking it apart, I'll do it again and maybe change the color once pollen season comes

If I can get my tank to feed ( blockage from too much liner) be a good time to add miles on the old shovel. I will pull the tank tomorrow and try to clear, heck I will be riding every day I can anyway let me know the location and time.

Stay tuned. Right now it looks like The Oasis to The Orginal Oyster House in Gulf Shores, then Fairhope/Spanish Fort/Bay Minette/112/back to the Oasis. Not at all cast in stone and open for suggestions. That's about 3.5 hours rolling time and maybe 150 miles. If it looks like that'll be it, I'll run it out on my Garmin map program if anybody's keeping stats.

Atta boy!

Decision's just been made to go KSU from The Oasis at 10:00; meander through the cow pastures to The Original Oyster House on 59 at Windmill Ridge Road (?) in Gulf Shores; then up through Point Clear, Fairhope, Daphne, and Spanish Fort to Bay Minette; then 112 to the Oasis cutoff; back to the Oasis. We figure we'll get back to the Oasis somewhere around 3:00.

THIS COMING SUNDAY Empty SUNDAY'S RIDE WEATHER

Post by TheOldGuy Fri Dec 02, 2011 9:34 am

According to Accuweather.com as of this morning, the afternoon portion of the ride will be during the warmest part of the day -- noon to 4 p.m. predicted to be 68 to 72, maybe some slight cloudiness, but no rain.

Not too shabby for early December. Y'all come. Very Happy

We'll have three Valkyries, two black and one in green and cream that looks like an county mountie's ride, plus Miss G's black Harley, plus I dunno what else.

Route is X I-10 through Rosinton on Co. 83 to US90, east to Elsinore, south to Co. 87 to US98, west into Elberta, then south on Co. 83, to the east side of the golf course and turn left (south) on Clarke Ridge Road to Co. 12S and turn right (west) to Gulf Beach Expressway, south on it to near the bridge than left onto Brown Lane, a service road that goes east under the bridge and connects with Cotton Creek Drive, then west on Cotton Creek to 59, and 59 south to Windward Reach Road and The Original Oyster Bar (or just the Oyster Bar) on the northwest corner of 59 and Windmill Ridge Drive.

I think we'll be there by 11:00 and hopefully leaving for the main part of the ride about 12:00.

I'm guessing we won't be leaving the Oasis until nearly 10:15-10:30. That route will take a full hour. Lunch will be an hour and I'm thinking we may not be on our way until nearly 1. BUT...that's not an issue. I know a nice area to ride thru while heading north without having to tangle with red lights and tons of traffic and STILL get us to Spanish Fort and northward at a decent hour. Just a back up if needed. What a Face

I can't wait!!! cheers

Let's go KSU at 10:00 sharp. Will get us to the dinner table a little after 11:00, and probalby on our way on the longer ride by 12:00. It starts getting chilly after 4:00, when some of us will be getting home.

I will meet you guys & gals at the oyster bar, less than 2 miles from home, that way I can adjust the chain correctly. I have to round robin back here after the ride ensd at the oasis anyway.

I'm kind of partial to Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries," myself . . . .

Ok well it raining at my house right now and it's almost 9, I'm trying to get off my butt and do things I have to do. Looks good on the radar except for humility for this afternoon.
