ThunderBeach 2012 Empty ThunderBeach 2012

Post by 72shovelhead Sun Jan 15, 2012 12:19 am

I know it is early but wanted to ask and see if anyone is planning on attending the ThunderBeach 2012 event in Panama City during May 2-6 this year?
Daytona is out of the question this year for me with work, $$$ etc.etc..
Also anyone who has attended the last couple of years what their impressions both good and bad are of ThunderBeach?

I haven't been to any events requiring an overnight stay. I'm usually the only woman in a group and sleeping arrangements are tough to manage.... I might do a day trip...

This event is just the right distance away in my opinion. Just far enough to get away, yet close enough to make it back in a hurry if necessary. Seems to be well organized.... got to get me a bike.

Phantom, you can borrow my wife's scooter. She's still not a loud to ride yet, maybe a couple months, I'll let you know. You'll have to lead though

Sounds like enough interest to have a nice group ride for the day, maybe two groups if some can only go on the weekend and maybe others during the weekday two rides?

The Good? tons of bikes, tons of biker shopping/swap meets/swag freebies !
also tons of great food deals, and tons more fun things to just "look at"
Entertainment is endless !

The Bad? Traffic ! make sure your bike is in top maintenance ( clutch, brakes, and coolant/fans especially !) most venues are spread out over a 3 mile stretch, and in dozens of different hotels/bars.

Not sure when i am riding down this year or for how long ( day or two?) but some good friends of mine finally got a gig to play down there ( after 2 years of trying) not cheap or easy to do I heard...

if you are over night on the weekend, check out Throwing Stones at Foghorns May 4th and 5th ( they are on facebook too) they rock out pretty hard, and a fun band to hang with between sets...

I went last year for the first time. It was great. We rode down Saturday morning and back Sunday evening. We booked room about 6 weeks ahead in Panama City not Panama City Beach but only 10 min ride back to room.
We had heard from alot of people staying on the beach that it's very loud all night long. So if you want a queit stay go in town and away from beaches. You'll also save $ too.
This year we're going down on Wednesday morning and staying til Sunday.
Anyone leaving near that time I would love to meet up and ride down with
you, if you don't mind taking the beach route. Im riding an old 4 speed and
don't like running over 65-70.

PCB is an easy and pretty 1 1/2 hour ride (if ya know when to go) which is now actually...

gotta say we have had some outstanding riding weather in December.

Did many of you make it to the last ride of the year?
