If you got pics of the fiery motorcycle and rider flaming down the road at 80mph, that would be more impressive. Rolling Eyes

If you think it is in the needle and seat, which it normally is if your carb is dry around the bowl and vent tube, then just take the bowl off, pull the float pin and remove the float and needle, your carb should have a brass seat in it (the part the needle rides in) take a q-tip and dip it in brasso, insert the q-tip into the seat and polish both up and down and with the q-tip all the way down and spin it, this will clean and polish the seat better than new without removing material or scratching the seat, inspect your needle's point as well for any pitting if it is aluminum or for cracks/rings if it is a rubber pointed needle, also shake your float and make sure there is no fuel inside of it as even a very small amount entering through a pinhole will cause the float to ride low, but if it is running good your float should be OK. I couldn't tell you how many of these we have fixed just polishing the seat, especially since the introduction of ethanol into our fuel...been opening a lot of carbs with white powder residue in them supposedly from the ethanol. Have a good one!

Thanks Joey.. I will look at that when I stop ignoring this fuel leak and tear into it. Dang ethanol is so troublesome. No

No Sweat...actually you may have already known that but thought I would post it up for general reading...don't know if it is definately the ethanol causing the powdering but that is the rumor and I had never seen it before it started getting used heavily...before it would always be more of a honey texture if you caught it before it hardened. anyway have seen a lot of people try and clean seats with small screwdivers, wire brushes, etc. but a q-tip is the perfect fit for the seat and the brasso does an amazing job, I actually polish all of my seats , even new ones, with it whether they look like they need it or not and have never had any needle and seat problems after...just make sure to wash the brasso out of the seat after with some carb cleaner spray and not a bad idea to back flush it by spaying into the fuel line fitting through to the seat if you polish the seat while it is in the carb.

I have been wondering if it would be worthwhile to have the inside of my bowls beadblasted and kreme'd.

Not sure which bowls you have, But alot of carb bowls have fuel and air passages thru them. I wouldnt recommend it.

Did a carb job today that was leaking into the airbox and it was the bowl vent passageway that was clogged and causing it, not to be confused with the fuel overflow tube on the bowl itself, the bowl vent is a passageway that is normally above the float and vents either through a hole in the exterior side of the carb, between and below the intake, or through a nipple with a hose on the exterior of the carb...we have a lot of trouble in our area with dirt dobber insects clogging them with dirt...

yeah I would not recommend creaming the bowl either...
