October 8-10, Barber Motorsports Park Annual Vintage Motorcyle Festival. One of the worlds biggest vintage race bike events in the world!!!!
http://www.barbervintagefestival.org/
Three days of kick ass vintage bike races, swap meets, vintage bike shows, vendors, test rides, and loads of vintage bike nuts!
Its the closest thing to heaven a vitage bike nut can get, and due to the way I have chose to live my life, it may be the closest I ever come to it!

Oh, and there is no difference in bike brands when you put "old" in front of it brother! You ride them like a cheap hooker long enough, and somthing will break! Just hope its them before its you and its all good!

Send me a PM beard if you want to hook up with us, we will be camping there the whole weekend and your welcome to join us. Camo is coming too I believe.
Again I am sorry that I have no pics, it hurts me too, but you are really going to hate you can't see my primary cover. I begain to prep it for polish tonight, three hours so far in wet sanding, and it is starting to get there. But the real eye candy is the fact that before I started sanding, I introduced the cover to my favorite speed hole bit!!!
I hope to get my camera replaced soon, the warranty exchange is taking longer than I thought!

Well I guess a cell phone pic is better than no pic, so here is some shots of it now. I set it on the bike to give you an idea of how it will look. I still have a bit more sanding to do.

Oh Yeah! Looking good!!! What did you use for the holes...one of those stepped bits? I really like it!
Re: Project "Caroline", 1973 CB350 four
Yep, I have a lenox tools stepped bit that I love to use for speed holes. I put it on my drill press and went to town!

Re: Project "Caroline", 1973 CB350 four
Spent a ton of time in the shop tonight.....AND SHE IS BACK! I did not get to polish the stator cover or the primary cover as much as I would have liked too, but I will do more when I go through the full tear down and rebuild over the winter. Tonight I got the new sprocket put on, it is a 16 tooth while the stock was a 17. I had to take one link out of the chain too, but I will be getting a new chain and rear sprocket at some point in the future. I also did some more polishing on the stator cover. You may notice that the beauty cover is missing from the stator cover, it is getting a little different treatment to make the polish pop some. I will unvail it when its ready. Also all of the old hardware has been replaced with SS socket head bolts. I changed the oil seal around the shifter. After getting all of that done I fired it up but it was too late for a test run long enough to really test the oil seals, so I will give her a long ride tomorrow after work. enough of that, here are some pics!
Here is the old sprocket, I was wrong about it having three teeth, it has four!

Re: Project "Caroline", 1973 CB350 four
Thanks for all the props guys, Caroline and I both appreciate it!
As for the beauty cover, don’t get too excited, it’s nothing too fancy or anything and this is kinda a test run for what may become the final product in the full tear down and rebuild.
I have not gotten to ride her yet, but I know it’s going to be a long day at work with all the anticipation of getting home and taking her for a spin! I really can't wait to see the difference in the performance the one tooth drop will make!

Re: Project "Caroline", 1973 CB350 four
Some other work that was done last night that I failed to mention because I did not have pics of it. I cut off the stock foot tab for the kick stand, the old one got in the way of the new shifter position, and fabbed up a new one in a better location. You can see it in the close up pic of the side covers. It is the little loop that sticks out right in front of the peg. If it works well there I am going to make it pretty, but functional is all I needed to test it! I also took a hammer to the chrome points cover as it had a few oops dents from the previous owner. It does not look perfect, but better. I think I am just going to order a new one for it at some point. I think thats about it, but by the end of the work session I was really tired and a little buzzed!

Re: Project "Caroline", 1973 CB350 four
I must have had one of those moments most of us call a brain fart! I am not sure why I chose red, I really wanted orange to match the badges, but for some reason when I was at the store thought the badge color was red, so I bought it! Worse part is when I got home and realized it was orange, I still decided to try the red!
Now that I have explained my momentary lapse of reason, I hate the beauty cover! This was a test trial, and it will be left on there like this for a while, but it has to be changed! FAIL!
Here is what it looks like now......ugh!
I also don't like the black, it is supposed to be gloss, but it did not turn out gloss! So here is where the decision comes in and I want some input. This is what all I have in mind, so let me know what you like best.
