Nice day for a ride.
I removed the screw, plugged my rear tire, did a little burnout and went for a ride today.. Over to Baldwin county. I forgot to look at the weather.. It turned into a very wet ride. Met a couple on Harleys from Canada.. I tried to talk to them and they just smiled and nodded nervously.. I don't think they spoke American?
Anybody else get a ride in today?

I am working hard on figuring out a way of not working all the time.. I've known to many old dudes that worked their asses off only to retire into a paradise situation and die months later..

Re: Nice day for a ride.
theres the problem they quit working, all the old folks in my family die months after they quit working and most live to their mid 90's. something to be said about a life with direction and activity

so true nick; my dad "retired" at 58, but never quit working; he said the minute he slowed down, the devil would catch up to him

Well I would like to think if I had the money I could stop with the everyday work and travel and find adventures. I try to do it now, but I gotta work for money.. I guess some people just don't have anything else to live for, but their work.
I would rather die kayaking in the Amazon than having a heart attack and falling head first into my tablesaw making a table for some person.

well, after he retired, his "work" was travel, tinkering, building a new house himself, anything that kept him active and busy

Hell yeah.. Thats the stuff I am talking about.. Growing a big garden and putting solar panels in the yard... Tinkering with thermal dynamics.
I don't mean an old person should sit in a chair all day and watch tv.. Just be able to do what they want instead of working for the man.

i doubt he ever watched daytime tv LOL; one of his "toys" was a '64 stepside truck he played with, always tinkering with; he died a few years ago at age 86 and was busy until then; of course, he was "the man" most of his life LOL there's something to be said for owning the biz

Re: Nice day for a ride.
he was; he rode Indians in the 40's and 50's, but quit before i was born; he never told me he did until he began doing some reminiscing before he died; he said he was afraid of the five of us, I would be the one who would want to ride and use the fact he had to justify it LOL
