The engine in those can't handle that kind of boost psi for long. Blow's head gasket's.

Hey guys, This post was kinda of a joke. That is actually my car. It isn't a Shelby Mustang, it's a Shelby Lancer made by Dodge in 87. Shelby had his hand in These cars/vans/trucks in the early 80's to the early 90's. That car will hold 18psi of boost all day long because the head gasket was installed correctly. Some of them will run 22 to 24 psi with meth injection and the addition of ARP head studs. the most important thing with these cars or anything boosted is the air / fuel ratio. My car is happiest at 11.3 - 11.4 at WOT.

Sure weirdbeard, I'll even let you but it. All the goodies are gone and for the most part the car is almost back to stock. It does however, have a 3" exhaust the exits out the side. Just about as loud as my Harley.

yep stud kit and use a "marine" head gasket, and they are just about bullet proof for the most part

The Mopar Performance head gasket is fine. People are running 28lbs with that HG. Some run more... You know, these motors were made to run boost. Back in the day they made 3 engines (depending on year/model) a T1, T2 and T3. The T1 was a lower powered motor with a one piece intake and stock internals. In 87 (My lancer's year) they started making the T2 with a 2 piece intake and forged internals. I have owned my car for 3 years now and replaced the HG when I first bought it. I read the service manual, made sure the head and block were clean (solvent and razor clean) I torqued the bolts down in the correct pattern, making the required 3 passes before the final 90 degree turn. I have accidentally run the Lancer up to 30psi (approx.) because my old waste-gate actuator stuck closed.. Never a problem. Yeah sure it blew black smoke out the pipe like a modded turbo diesel but I'm sure it just freed up some carbon on the rings... Embarassed
I drove her from Buffalo NY to Toledo OH for a Shelby Dodge Automotive Club meet. and then down to Raleigh, NC and back to NY... Few weeks later I drove 1286 Miles to Wilmer, AL which is now my new home.
Some of these cars/vans get a bad rap because of smoking tail pipes and what not. It is usually because of poor maintenance or lack of Maint..

I bought this car for 1500 dollars, put a grand into it cleaning and fixing things, larger injectors, BOV, Innovate Wideband. I socketed my LM (computer) and burned my own chips and I am proud to say that My little 1500 dollar, 96,000 mile Dodge beat a 60,000 dollar mustang from stop light to stop light (approx 1/4 mile). cheers

Not to many people outside the SDAC community believe. I know one person who does.. and he is one pissed off Mo Fo for spending that much money on a slow ass mustang.. (j/k)

When you are in the profesion like me and Nick. You see these cars scatter the engine's all the time. You fixed the weak link in yours. But most people want to take thier $1500 car and run the sh*t out of it with 150k on the clock. It can't hold up to that kind of abuse. I did an Eclipes turbo head a couple weeks ago and used a MLS (multi layer steel) head gasket. Maybe he wont kill it again. drunken

I like it when you can find the sweet deals and the car that got the motor that was built by the guy who still took pride in his assembly line job. I know a guy has your same luck on cars, we did some work on his egle talon, running 25 psi all day on purestock, no blow by nothing. when he sold it he brought it to my shop with the guy and had me check it all out for the guy who was going to buy it with him standing there all tolerances where running right down the middle even after hebet it up, sometimes the factory just does a good job.

This is a friend of mine from Canada. He has some work done to his Lancer. He is actually running in the 11's now.

This is 2 more friends last year at the SDAC (Shelby Dodge Automotive Club) meet last year.
The white Neon is the owner of FWD Performance and the Daytona is the owner of
Badass Performance. The neon was having problems all weekend but still a nice car.
Hear the compressor surge during the burnout?

Nothing like hearing a turbo slowing down after a run..

This is my friend Carlton, how do you think the firebird (me thinks) felt in the other lane?

I'm posting these other videos because they all share the same engine. 2.2 or 2.5. We can even replace Head with one of a 2.4, 2.4 SRT engine..
After watching these vid's I sorta want to keep the car now... lol

Alright, I just need to get some stuff done around here first.. Just noticed some soot on the starter on the Harley. Looks like the head pipe loosened up on me. Wonder how long it's been like that.. shi.t

You mean putting little pieces of rubber on the motor mounts didn't solve that problem??
