tire recommendations

Time to replace my tires on the 1972 FLH, weight dry 723 pounds, currently have the Dunlop 402F 5.00/16 still have good thread and no cracks or splitting,but 6 years old. Looking for input from riders with bikes with similar in weight and all conditions riding, speed avg 60-70mph. Main concerns it wet traction,cornering, road noise...forget noise cannot hear over exhaust.

402 is a good tire , the K491 Elite II also fits , as well as the Elite 3 Dunlop

I would go with the Elite 3 myself

Yes, I like the 402's but they are getting hard and not as flexible due to age. I also like to run tubes in the tires kinda old thought of seeing the tube if a split starts to show. Mezzler was another tire I ran on the 85 heritage worked pretty good on that bike, but not sure about the 72 shovel since i am limited in in turns and leaning without dragging the floorboards being it is so low to the ground.

Those elite III's look nice and I am going to dig into the reviews and give them a good look. Also plan on installing new wheel bearings at the same time.

yeah good choice there , I had 491's on my EVOs , not very good mileage and they had this funky rib or high spot on the sidewall , that you could actually get up on if you leaned it over far enough

I ordered the elite 3 from Denniskirk, be here next wednesday.
