Need tire Help

I have a nearly new tire (less than 1500 miles) that loses pressure will hold 20 psi for a week but will not hold proper psi of 36.
I am gonna take it off today to dunk the tire. this may show me where it is leaking being an almost new tire I don't want to replace any help will be appreciated.Can I use slime in the tire or is it a no no.Or if it has a hole in the tire can I plug it?

If it will hold a lower pressure. The leak may be around the rim or valve stem. Fix a flat or slime will not reach these two areas. Plugging will get you by but not recommended. Some have used plugs with no problems.
