Well I surely don't ride for the scene, when I ride its usually on the back roads out in the middle of nowhere

Damn dude.. if you are worried what other people think about that sporster so much I will give you a $1000.00 for it today.
My 72 is a ( SPORTY) 1200 bored .060 over with a few other tricks installed but weights in at 734 pounds. I would have a blast running around town in that light and fast sporty..

I'm not defending me but the bike, I think the bike it's self has gotten a bad wrap. And I'm not stupid enough to let it go for $1000.00

The reason I ride back roads is cause there no traffic and I don't have to worry about other idiots on the road

The bike doesnt get a bad rap , the bad rap comes from people like you letting others get under your skin ..
From my monitor I see someone feeling the need to justify what they ride by using a statement someone else made that is full of in accuracies ..
IMO if you use someone elses staements , then you should research what they write and dont take it as gospel
