Battery Terminal Bolts
I need longer ones so I can hard mount the battery charger wires to the battery so I don't have to keep taking the battery out. Anyone know what type of material they are made of, or I'll take any suggestions for replacement bolts. It's for a Honda Shadow.

Re: Battery Terminal Bolts
You talkin about the terminal clamp bolt or the battery wire clamp bolts?
But either way, take one over to Home Depot or Lowes and just get a longer one. I would not recommend MUCH longer as you can accidentally screw the new bolt down into the battery case or otherwise contact the surrounding metal holder case. Don't ask how I found that out.

Yeah. the terminal clamp bolt. Thanks for the info. I was wondering about the bolt (what it is made of) also. Thanks Dragon.

Well that one is a little different alloy than "regular" bolts, but I have used standard many times. They just sometimes tend to corrode a little faster.

I hate that, know exactly what you are talking about. I just put Zip-Ties around the terminal and under the nut on mine, so I can pull up the nut from the bottom as I screw int the bolt. Just fold the zip ties down when I buckle it back up. I access the battery from the top though on my bike though, I don't know if it would work very well on one that has the battery in a side mount.

Will work on either battery. The bolts should be long enough if you can keep the nut in place. I have used the zip tie for the same thing.

I think it's a lead base mix, or copper, coated with an Aluminum mix. Cheapest thing they can get most of the times. almost all metal is conductive, I say this cause there may be some kind of metal out there that I haven't come across yet that isn't.

Thanks for the ideas, I was able to hook the charging cable to the battery. With cold weather coming I'll be ready.
