was a short ride today.....
I looked out the window, it was sunny on this fine January day. I looked at the thermometer and it read 25 degrees....
I decided I was going to RIDE !
so I go out and fire the ol' Thundercat, first try....success !
as she warmed her steel bones, I went inside and fumbled with trying to put my leathers over some warm clothing layers, as it was destined to be cold !
scrounged through some winter clothing boxes, found my fleece skiing NECK-UP to break the chill between the jacket and my helmet...
first stop was to JoeyPutts place.... A mere 12 minutes away.... we shot the bull a bit, talked bikes, laughed over a couple bits, then parted ways.... thanks Joe... nice to meet you..
I ventured out into unknown territory, easing the kitty through her paces, as it has been awhile.... she responded hesitantly at first, but I quickly remedied that with a few brisk TOTW down a long, empty roadway....
I turned down roads I have never explored, in aspiring hopes of conquering the highly elusive sweepers and curves of southeastern Alabama.
SIGH.....after 40 miles from my warm doorstep, and much to my dismay, I had failed........
The temps were not getting warmer, the winds were fierce and seemed to toss this heavy beast beneath me around like confetti.
I turned down this road, jaunted down that one, on my now dismal trek back towards home....
As I made my last turn towards the main road, I spotted something! it was black and moved swiftly around what appeared to be a bend....
it couldnt be ..... another bike?
I pursued, following in anticipation, veering through side streets, listening for that sound.........the sound of an aftermarket exhaust....
I met with a stop sign, and as I began to move past it, I saw it again... ever more clearly now... it ....... it was....... it was a YAMUDA???
I couldnt believe it.....
so I turned back towards home, ending what began as an adventure, and finished with a nice smile, cold fingers, and nice cup of coffee as I type this, 87 miles later.....
thanks for reading....

It was indeed beautiful out today. You are a brave and hardy soul. I commend you. I can imagine you feel refreshed, the winter cobwebs have been banished for a while now.
I am waiting till it's warmer. LOL

I saw one tough guy this morning in Tillmans Corner. 21 degrees and headed to work on his Harley. For my short commute to work (5miles) I draw the line at 32.

My son is one of those "tough" guys simply because his Harley is his only mode of transport.
Starting Sunday, the temps are supposed to warm well into the 60's. I'm betting there's going to be a LOT of bikes out and about by then.

Re: was a short ride today.....
I went for a ride yesterday. I had just gotten my four into one exhaust mounted and Dolores was purring like a kitten. I knew that Dolores needed a new rear tire pretty badly and I have tires for her but I thought that surely the tire had a few more miles in her. I was wrong. Ten miles in the rear went flat. Bummer. So the rest of the afternoon was spent getting her home. Now she's sitting all alone in my garage with a flat tire. I sold Robbie's reflex and we're going to pick up julius' 350 today. So for now she's broken and lonely.
