Cleaning the non chrome parts
I've noticed that some of the brushed aluminum parts almost look....pitted. Like the could use a good scrubbing. The chrome parts all look great. What do you suggest I use to clean these parts with to make them shine and look clean again? I have a carport getting put up in the next couple of weeks. Until then, my beautiful bike is at the mercy of the elements. I'm open to all suggestions.

not an expert ( see JoeyPutt for polishing tips) but I have successfully used a "00" steel wool and neverdull swabs on pitted aluminum spokes.

Am I right in assuming it's the beginning of pitting if I can't rub it and make any visual change?

That aluminum will oxidize on you.. Stay on it.. I use Mothers mag wheel polish. This stuff will knock your socks off. Makes the aluminum look better than chrome.
This weather is bad for a bike outside because it gets cold at night and warms up during the day and makes condensation all over the bike every morning. It will take on a nice patina..

I'll pick some mothers up tomorrow. I wish that carport would get done sooner. The holidays have everything behind. Thank you WB!!

Sister Miss G I agree with the good advice that both Brothers 01YZF6 and Weirdbeard offered you!
Re: Cleaning the non chrome parts
I picked up some Mothers today. I can't wait to use it. Is it good on all metal surfaces or is it better for the brushed metals only?
Now, if it would only quit raining....

Its a little aggressive for nice chrome. I never use it for that, but I have buffed out oxidized paint and plastic with it.

Thank you WB, I figured it might be a bit much. Guess all it really needs is some chrome polish.

I pretty much stick with neverdull. You can get it at walmart or any auto parts place. It is pretty good on all metal without causing any damage.
