Any JAP bike! A I hate to say that. I have two harleys they are the best looking but they cost you an arm and a leg and always have to be worked on. Then you pay two three times more to fix them then any other type of bike.

Re: Who makes the best bike?
I've had a few bikes over the years. Some better than others, all used.
I started out with a mid 70's Yamaha enduro 90. I then moved up to
a 79 Honda xr250 (great bike). Next was the first street bike a 86
Yamaha Exciter 250, I gave 200 bucks for....rode it for years. I then
picked up 98 Honda xr400r. Fun with lots of power! Also at the same
time I had 2 91 Suzuki Dr350's and an ATK 406 (first and only 2 stroke).
4 years ago I bought my first Harley, a 89 sportster hugger. I had a
accident 6 months later (a guy cut me off, laid down bike) and injuries
left me unable to kick start anything. I sold off all of it but Harley.
ATK= Worst because high price parts and hard to find. All the Jap
bikes were great...least maintanence.... I love the Harley but it
requires alot of maintanence. The Honds lines would get my vote
as far as reliablilty but all other jap manufacturers build great bikes
as well. But were pride is concerned owning a Harley makes me
proud simply because of the long standing fellowship of Harley riders
and events hosted and sponsered by Harley Davidson around the
world. But most of all, they welcome all who love to ride, no matter
what you're riding!
does require alot of main

Re: Who makes the best bike?
Sorry but this is a stupid question. You ought to ask what is the best color for a motorcycle. Or what is the best cologne to wear when you are on a motorcycle..

O great wise one.... Please enlighten as to why this is such a stupid question. I am not the original poster, however I did at one time resurrect the thread. I have found it interesting to read others experiences with different brands.

Re: Who makes the best bike?
There is no "Best" brand of bike. OK I'll take the bait. Its a freakin Gas Gas.
They make the best Observed Trials bike on the planet and since you have to be a rider of God like skill to ride observed trials by process of elimination Gas Gas is the best bike made by man.
After that I would have to rank as my 2nd choice BOSS HOSS. Light nimble and affordable by the masses. Boss Hoss is probably the reason West Coast Customs went out of business.
In a perfect world observed trials riders would all be on Boss Hosses.

Ahh.... As far as I know, you are the first to bring up Gas Gas on this forum. I have no experience with them, but have read great things. I think you are also the first person I have ever heard say Boss Hoss is a light nimble bike. I think some of them look great, I just thought they would be a heavy bike that had turning radius of a small ocean liner. (Not knocking the bike... just my uneducated impression)

Re: Who makes the best bike?
Thats the point I was trying to make.
There is no quantitative measurement as to what constitutes the "Best" bike. There is no way that one bike or brand could be the best. And I'm sure that someone out there does consider a Boss Hoss to be nimble but then again there is nothing you can think of that someone has not opened a pay per view sex site about (only $19.95 a month but take the free tour first). It is my humble opinion that a person needs food from the four food groups and a motorcycle from the 4 major biking groups.
1- Cruiser
2- Crotch Rocket
3- Off Road 2 stroke
4- Off Road 4 stroke
Of course thats just my opinion.

Re: Who makes the best bike?
Sure... and a shiney star too!! I guess the reason this thread set me off on a rant is because I'm basically a slut when it comes to bikes. I can find something I like about just about everyone I've ever seen.
