I always wanted one of those bar stools!! I really like the one with the motorized bar stool and cooler!!
Re: Thunderbeach 2011 Spring Rally - April 27 - May 1st
If I am on the other side of this shoulder surgery and I still have a job, I plan on going down and at least spending the day and seeing the sights.

Re: Thunderbeach 2011 Spring Rally - April 27 - May 1st
We went down a few years ago..must have been in a warm season...and stayed at that Holiday Inn on the beach.....after putting up with all the traffic for several hours and seeing all of the "biker trinkets" that most of the vendors had....we just spent the rest of the afternoon at the hotel Tiki bar by the pool.....kept drinking those little buckets of some kind of rum punch until that delightful intoxication thing took over......had a great time!

Re: Thunderbeach 2011 Spring Rally - April 27 - May 1st
we went down this past fall rally for the day....
ideally you want to get a hotel room, that way after a day of riding from one event spot to the next up and down the strip, you can sit back and enjoy the night time entertainment...which there is an abundance of from what I read about and saw advertised.... hopefully they will be done with the construction too....

The hotel is a great idea but kinda expensive if you go it alone. Those that are close to the action are a bit pricey. But...there is the entertainment to consider. LOL It's like getting a show for free.

Re: Thunderbeach 2011 Spring Rally - April 27 - May 1st
I have no doubt that if you asked...there would be plenty of volunteers to split a room with!
;-)
Sorry.....the smart-ass side of me couldn't pass that one up!
With all seriousness aside....good point. The closer to the action the more the rooms cost but..much better entertainment. Also...not near as far to stagger back to the room later on. You can relax more...drink all ya want..and not worry about riding the bike after and risking DWI and all kinds of other disasters.
Actually that is another good thing about PCB...the rooms really are not all that bad price wise. There are also a number of condo rentals where a bunch could split the cost and still be near the action....and the pool....hot tub...tiki bar, etc. Although some of the hotels have asked for a 3 day minimum to get the good prices.

I much prefer a smart-ass to a dumb one. I'm sure I could fine a volunteer. If the "volunteers" can hang with some ground rules, we're good to go. Driving the bike after drinking is NOT happening for me...can't risk a DUI. In my profession, that's an immediate termination!

Use Hotwire for hotel
I just checked and you can get a 2 star hotel (by the airport) on that Sat. night for $43 plus tax. I use Hotwire for all my hotel purchases with no problems. I just don't suggest booking 1 star motels.

That's a great price but how close is it to the action? I drink tho' never to excess but I won't drive a bike and drink at all. I'm not familiar with that area... I've had good luck with Orbitz on my hotel stays before.

Miss G,
Not far but no its not close to the venue. Probably 10-15 min depending on traffic.

IF I can get it sorted out, I think I'd want to be closer. I don't mind having to walk a few blocks but no driving if possible. Would be a very bad idea. LOLJSteele wrote:Miss G,

Re: Thunderbeach 2011 Spring Rally - April 27 - May 1st
There is no place in PCB very far from anything. We were there two days in the fall and drove over the city so much that we started to get bored. That being said, any hotel is not too far from anything so that Hotwire deal sounds pretty good to me.
JSteele, we need to get together tomorrow and book a pair of rooms.

Re: Thunderbeach 2011 Spring Rally - April 27 - May 1st
Bones and I just booked a room at the Hampton Inn on Back Beach Road. We are heading over the 29th and coming back on the 1st. Woohoo. I think it was 125/night if you pay now.
If anyone is riding over on the 29th, let me know and we will meet up. We usually take 98 all the way there.
