My next bike

I'm in the process of selling a lot of "toys" to buy my next bike. It's a Triumph Tiger 800XC. I already have a deposit on one, but I want get it until April.

Yes, the Duc is a fine bike. So is the new Yamadog. However, I don't need all that fancy stuff. I have no use for traction control, ABS, shaft drive, ect...

I understand. I did not even know these big bikes existed until you showed the one your getting. If I could have a stable full of bikes, I would have one of these in it.

I would really like to see it when you get it. That is my type of MC, (adventure bikes are the ticket! I couldn't stay awake on a cruiser.) but I've always been askeered of buying a non Japanese bike. I have always wanted a Hypermotard, but don't want to pay for $700 valve adjustments. How hard could it be? I've always adjusted my own valves on my Hondas, Yamahas, Kaws and Hondas.

I would not want an older Triumph. I saw an owner's manual once. It was like it was written in another language. The only word I understood was "spanner". (That's a wrench, mate.)

But the newer ones are another story. Triumphs are awesome bikes nowadays. (They are actually kicking Japanese butt!) I have just always wondered how much different they are to work on. (For example, I have always worked on my own Japanese cars, (They are just big motorcycle engines) but I don't know what I'm looking at when I raise the hood on a domestic vehicle.)

I can tell from your last bike, that you can turn a wrench, so in the near future, maybe I'll actually have someone that can tell me how much different they are to work on.

But, seriously. That is an awesome machine, and I'd be interested in talking with you after you have had the Triumph for a while and hear what your thoughts are in comparing Japanese and European machines. There's nothing like getting a Brand new Bike that you have thoroughly researched and decided, of all the bikes out there, this is the one that fits me!

Nat Sass, thanks for the vocabulary. I'll definately save that for future reference. I have never owned a Triumph, but always liked them. I was considering a BMW F800GS, but it did not keep me awake at night like the Tiger 800XC. Everybody uses one word to describe the motor/tranny: Smoooth...

tried to test ride a tiger at Daytona Bikke Week last year, the line for them was out the door and people were waiting 2 hours to get a turn. I wanted to ride a Sprint, but they didnt have any. They had 14 of the new Thunderbird 1700cc bikes so I drove one of them

HOLY CRAP! More power and aggression than any sportbike I'd ridden. I parked it after the ride, grinned like a madman, pushed a kid down, pee'd on an old lady's poodle, and had a shot of gasoline as I pounded my chest and proclaimed I was all that is man!


I have no doubt the Tiger will be just as awesome!
