Ok...who here has or had a 750 Four Honda?
Am trying to settle a good natured argument elsewhere. I seem to remember my 72 750 Four getting around 60 mpg. Or am I on crack?
Re: Ok...who here has or had a 750 Four Honda?
my uncles 76 cb750a would get around 50 mpg

I would say 60 mpg would be reasonable, but you really would have to be light on the gas grip, i think they came with 26 mm or 29mm carbs ,

Yeah bagger... what did it feel like to NOT have to work on your bike all the time
I'm getting a little better than 45, but mine's not stock and I'm anything but light on the throttle. 60 sounds close to right or maybe a bit optimistic...

I have owned several of the sohc 750's, a hardtail springer chopper, dragbike, etc. and one stock dohc 750, but yes they get great mileage! And are very reliable!
Re: Ok...who here has or had a 750 Four Honda?
well uuhhh not werking on a bike sucks ..
my sisters husband always wanted a 750K , so he bought it new in late 77 , put 2000 miles on it and sold it to me for what he owed on it , $1600 I thinketh
Was a good bike , till I put it in a laydown frame and starting running alcohol thru it , then started breaking all the time , so I sold it ..

Russ Collins was the rider, twin engined 1000cc Honda fours, this bike held the record of 7.30 at 199mph for 12 years!

Triple engined nitro honda called the AT&SF and it was the first 7 second drag bike, he crashed it and then built Sorcerer. The Vance and Hines guys worked for and rode for Collins. I Love Trivia!!!

You should see me ride! hehehe!!! Sorry about that, I really do not talk too much smack but Brother Biggerjim just set it up so nice for me!
Seriously though, I figured you would have beat me to the punch with those answers Brother Biggerjim! I know you knew them and know much more about drag racing than I do!

joe
we had two sohc 750 racers in this part of the country.
one was stan white , we called him (CHICKEN WING) because he would
have his elbow up in the air on the gas grip when he left the line, and he was really skinny and looked like a banny rooster,
and the infamous LARRY HAYES that guy was fast he had a blown 750 fuel bike had a awesome bike back in the day, altough it took alot of falstaff for larry to get on it and ride it he he he,,

yep Vance and Hines werked for Russ Collins then went off on their own ..
Collins was ahead of his time .. He now does hi end stuff on Honda cars last I heard ..
He had a nastee crash at Akron Ohio on AT and SF , said it was a beast to handle , while in the hospital he dreamed up Sorcerer

Re: Ok...who here has or had a 750 Four Honda?
Man those are some great vintage pics! I overbuild everything and looking at the little front forks on those bikes I would be scared to put that much weight and power on them! (especially in the 1st and 3rd pics)...much less cruise at 2 bills on them!

91 Nighthawk 750 in my garage now. 48 mpg on average, might get better if I didn't wring its neck so much.........but its FUN to open that throttle.
Its for sale if anyone of you want to "step back in time" and make her your own.
