Needin some help finding a part size
Wanting to find out the NPT on two plugs on my 09 Lowrider so I can get the stuff together to hook up the oil cooler. Called Eastern Shore Harley, they show the part, but it doesn't list the size and their shop techs are swamped right now. Pretty much all the new models have them, they are just above the spin on oil filter facing towards the front of the bike. I have googled myself to death trying to get inof and save having to pull one and make a mess with the oil and going to Advance to get some fittings matched up. I tried to show them here. They are on the far left of the pic, two silver plugs just to the left of the chrome oil filter ring.
Re: Needin some help finding a part size
Are you sure those are for the oil lines? My oil cooler came with an adapter that routes the oil to the cooler... I will have to take off the oil filter and put the adapter on then hook the hoses to the adapter then screw the filter back on.
Re: Needin some help finding a part size
You are correct. You are SUPPOSED to get an adapter. However after talking to the mechanic in person a couple weeks back at eastern shore, those are there so they can hook it up to a dyno and check oil temp and pressure. he said there should be no problems in running an oil cooler into them, as they are simple in and out openings for that. If I can get all the parts matched up, it would save me around 130 dollars from having not to buy an adapter. they are outrageously priced.
Re: Needin some help finding a part size
Holy cwap. It would look a lot cleaner without the adapter as well. Mine came as part of the kit. Oh well.

If I am not mistaken it is a 1/4" NTP. And I'm not mistaken very often. I haven't pulled one to check but from the looks of it, Thats would be my guess.Dragon wrote:Wanting to find out the NPT on two plugs on my 09 Lowrider so I can get the stuff together to hook up the oil cooler. Well, nevermind.....I went down to eastern shore (after doing extensive online research ) and have yet to get any confirmation on whether it's going to work like that or not, theories as to whether it will have enough pressure, etc. Nor anyone has any idea about Harley's press promo when they released the 96 Twin Cam that it was SUPPOSED to have an integrated oil cooler adapter:

So after that aggravation I ordered an adapter to make damn sure it will work, hookup wise. Another weeks wait for that....plus...the pics of the cooler itself were crappy when I ordered it, no shots of the actual fan area and its one heavy duty THICK housing....I think I am going to end up splitting the cooler and fan and putting the cooler on the front of the downtubes and the fan section on the back of the downtubes and using the tubes as a fan shroud.
*Sighhhhhh*
Just wanna ride my flippin bike without it cuttin out and acting like a jackass....

Har de Har....
Doesn't matter now anyway. I pulled the cooler out of the box and one of the main feed line supports is broken wide open. Taking it back and ordering an OEM cooler, to hell with it.
