Time for new paint
I have been putting this off for a while, in January I want to repaint the Shovel. what I have found is that there is 3 layers of paint on the rear fender, current Black, candy purple, and white along with some bondo to smooth over the stock set mounting holes. I sanded a small spot and know there is way too much layers for me to sand the whole thing, need input on best and quickest way to remove all paint from the fenders. Otherwise will need to drop the parts off with someone to do the removal and painting. Anyone had recent experience with a good reasonable painter?? Looking to paint frame, fenders and tanks.
Thanks.

Still have a set of tins that I want to paint. So no luck on a painter.
I would get some spray on paint remover for the fender.

I used to know a good painter out of Foley but for some reason can't remember his last name. It may come back to me later. He ran a little shop called Phantom Paint & Performance off route 20 just a few blocks east of 98. he painted my Softail Quadzilla fairing to match factory bike paint, painted Debi's VTX tour pack and then painted the deuce Coupe for me....There it is...that brain cell snapped back into place for a second. His name was Ken Wheeler; Phantom Paint & Performance. Just throwin that out there. Not even sure if he is still in business as I have not seen him in a few years.

You might look into Loctite Chisel gasket remover. I know it says gasket remover, but we use it to strip paint on aircraft when a small area requires stripping. The only coating I am familiar with on an aircraft that gives chisel any trouble is a Super Korpon 2 part primer.
I am not sure what it will do to an area that has bondo on it though.

Thanks guys, anything is worth a try to get some of the labor intensive part of the project done without forking out a small house payment. I know I want all the bondo sanded smooth. I should have picked up some paint remover the last time I was MIA on the freighter project in November. But things is getting tight with the EPA and aircraft paint remover.

Ordering a new wiring harness this week, seems the only for me to stop riding whenever I get a chance is to rip out the old wiring and bring the bike down!. still looking for a reasonable painter nearby to paint the tanks and fenders. Also I need to rework the vintage hardbags and seat.
