Trip to the tail of the Dragon

Made my first trip up to ride the Tail of the Dragon. Spent three full days and over 800 miles and if you have never been it is awesome up there. I stayed at the Two Wheel Inn in Robbinsville NC. Cool little hotel that has a garage for each room to put your bike in at night. I had to buy one of the pictures from the photographer that takes pictures of everyone.

Did you have any rubber left on your heels? I bet the weather was awesome!!!!

I had some left but rubbed of about an inch off of the back heels. Cant wait to go back and grind some more off of them.

I heard a lot of rumors that the police is really coming down on the riders and cagers hard like anything above the 25 mph speed limit whamo ticket.

There was a cop on a bike riding it regular but to be honest I did not break the speed limit very much. I think he was just to keep people keeping from racing down it.

When you go back do Wayah Road and the Cherohola Skyway.

Wayah: south out of Robbinsville to the highway; turn left (be careful this is on mother of a blind, dangerous intersection!); go about three miles; see easy-to-miss blacktop off the right near the bottom of a downgrade. There is a greeen/white street sign there. Comes out on a big 4-lane the pretty soon hits Franklin, NC. Moonshine 28 goes back up to Deal's Gap from there. 20-30 miles?

Cherohola Skyway: A national park road like the Blue Ridge Parkway. Ask around in Robbinsville for its entry point (is in Robbinsville). Goes to Tellico Plains, TN. To the right on a service road by the highway at the end is a little restaurant that serves really suprisingly good catfish. 60+ miles one-way, I think.

We did both of those roads and a few more. Plan on going back in april or may of next year depending on my work schedule. 28 was one of the best to me
