That would be a cool bike to have I guess in India.. Of Coarse Royal Infields are pretty cool too. It would be a pretty big bike in India, but here I don't think it would do well. The 883 Sporty is not to much power for a beginner at all and i.t looks like its still the sporty platform so its probably still top heavy.

The only reason I can see it selling well in the U.S. is if there are a lot of want to be Harley owners that would buy it because it's priced low enough. And in that case, Harley better make sure it's a sound machine that will make the newbie owner want to upgrade to a real Harley.

Harley has never figured out the whole low, center of gravity thing, IMHO. The heritage softail is about as lose as they've come. If they sell those 500's over here, they better be VERY reliable (not a Harley strong point) AND not top heavy....

My Softail has been the most reliable bike I have ever had and I have had quite a few bikes...Cool thing about a Softail is you sit in the bike as opposed to on it. Tomorrow makes 6 weeks post knee replacement....hoping to get my new fake knee on that Softail by this weekend! Wish me luck!

A Heritage Softail will likely be my next bike for that very reason...they are low slung and feel very light and handle very well because of it.jmunsey wrote:My Softail has been the most reliable bike I have ever had and I have had quite a few bikes...Cool thing about a Softail is you sit in the bike as opposed to on it. I need knee replacement but am trying to put it off for a long as I can... I sure hope you get to ride! What about riding the Deuce?? Wouldn't that be easier since you wouldn't have to put your feet up and down?

Re: Harley will run on curry?
I never stopped riding the Deuce. It was great therapy and that vibrating floor board felt great. I put off the knee replacement until the pain level exceeded my fear of the surgery. I could get back on the Softail now probably but gonna wait until after doctor visit tomorrow.
Re: Harley will run on curry?
Excellent on the riding...at least you were able to catch some wind therapy! I'm doing the rooster shots and teaching aerobics.... I'm pushing every limit possible. LOL.

Re: Harley will run on curry?
i held out several years and waited till the pain level exceeded my fear of the surgery. Turned out that I was one of the 10% of people that the rooster shots had no effect on.
Re: Harley will run on curry?
Bummer on the shots bot working. The pain before this shot was pretty awful and I have a very high pain tolerance...
How has the new knee felt? I mean, really...how does it FEEL (or not feel) to walk on it?

Re: Harley will run on curry?
2 wheels up baby!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got sign off from the doc tonight so I can go back to the gym and ride the Softail again. I fired it up for a short ride tonight and probably ride to work tomorrow and definitely making up for lost miles this weekend.
Knee feels much better these days as i am 6 weeks and 2 days post surgery. I got rid of the cane last week. We have an elevator at work but I refused to use it and took the stairs instead. I was out of work `16 days total. Such is not always the case though. Not everyone is a demented retired submarine sailor with a warped mind!
Physical therapy is the most important thing and it was painful. Now I have to decide when to do the other one...may wait a few more months on that. Gotta run. Talk more later!

Re: Harley will run on curry?
IF I get my knee done anytime soon, I'm determined to go back to teaching jazzercise, which will cause more than a few gray hairs for my Dr. I have to let my sick leave build up a bit more. I wanted to ride to Sturgis next year. I turn 50 in July. I'm hoping the shots will keep working their magic (despite my abuses...lol) for another year or 2..
Enjoy the ride!!!
Enjoy the ride!!!

Re: Harley will run on curry?
Will do....I put it off a long time...waited until the pain exceeded my fear of the surgery...and before this...I had never spent a night in the hospital. Ride it out as long as you can...but...don't make yerself miserable...surgery was not all that bad and recovery is relatively quick...they say it is one of the most commonly done surgeries these days. the trick is to be fit before the surgery. They replace the knee bones but all the same old tendons and muscles get put pack for the recovery. The stronger they are beforehand, the easier the recovery. Those are my completely unsolicited and absolutely
uneducated words of advice!
Ride the softail 70 mils today...sure felt good!

Re: Harley will run on curry?
Well, I teach aerobics.... That should qualify as fit, I hope. But you're right...the better shape you're in, the faster and easier your recovery from any surgery. So far the discomfort is bearable. I can definitely tell that shot is wearing off tho....
