My oldest son Scott....

My oldest son had a phucking cage pull right out in front of him today. He tried to avoid hitting the car but ended up laying his bike down. He has severe road rash on the left side of his body. A broken femur and a very badly broken ankle. If you feel so inclined, please sent a small prayer or some good thoughts his way. His name is Scott...he's 25 yrs old.

Sadly, his engine guard is on my bike. Said he didn't like it...might have saved his ankle...might not... He's a Marine and stationed in NC. I don't even know if I can get up there to go see him. :-(

Holy crap. Prayers for him. Hope he is doing good. Keep us posted.

hope the accident report favors him in the accident too...tell him to make sure everything is well documented, and that if the other driver is at fault to get copies of everything ! ( tickets, accident report, insurance, everything!)

and to get a great lawyer through the base !

Thanks to donations from many friends, I'll be leaving in the morning and heading up to see him. I'll have to come back Thur but at least I'll get a whole day with him and can talk to some of the dr's.

The ankle was really FUBAR'd. ligaments, tendons, skin....all torn away. Was supposed to have the ortho and plastic surgeon come in today to decide the next course of action.

Made it up here this afternoon. 735 miles....dayum. Caged it up so I could push harder....and not worry so much about the deer.

Had a car pull right in front on him. Tried to angle the bike but had virtually no time to do anything. He laid the bike down on its left side, hit the car and was thrown over the hood. The cager was cited for at fault. Little bast*rd better not ever end up near me.

The dr did a great job closing his ankle up. His femur was broken in 2 places hence the rod they put in. He's got road rash all over. Some fairly nasty some not too bad. He's swollen, very bruised but lived to tell the tale. His bike looks very FUBAR'd. He's one VERY lucky young'in.

Plan to come home Thur but will stay a bit longer if my son wants/ needs me. Thank you for the well wishes and prayers!!!

Definitely get a lawyer. And glad to hear he is doing good after surgery. Keep us posted on his recovery.

glad he is through surgery and healing up... tell him DO NOT SKIMP on recovery instructions or physical therapy orders !

trust me, i was not supposed to be able to walk again, or without a severe limp.
and due to amazing doctors and therapists, I can almost walk a straight line !

how is the USMC handling this? I know some bases get real pissy about rider accidents off base.

He's definitely going to apply himself in PT...he's like me, they'll have to hold him back. Lol

The USMC, from what I've seen, has been outstanding on fighting the civilian Hosp on the early discharge they've been fighting for. Since the other driver was cited as being at fault, no pissy-ness...yet. His NCOIC just rocks!! And they've gone out of their way to include me in everything even those he's not a minor.

Glad to hear he's going to be ok, what a mess.

Now we have a mess. They're sending him home on medical leave. Won't fly him and he doesn't want to soooooo...ROAD TRIP!! I'm Michigan bound and then home to Bama. *sigh*. Will take at least 2 days and he's going to be a hurting puppy by the time it's over with. On the upside, I get 2 more days with my son!!

Ms G , I'm very sorry to hear about Scott . I pray he has a full and speedy recovery .

I got him home this evening (well, yesterday now) at 5 pm EST. I made it as far south as Bowling Green, KY. Where my son lives is West of Detroit. After all I'd done, my @$$hole ex wouldn't let me even step inside to say good bye. My poor baby had to hobble out to me with his walker. It was raining and I was wet...it was only 46* too...so I was cold too. There's so many reasons he became my ex...just reaffirms it was a GOOD decision...
