Better than new Kawasaki Vulcan 500
Finally got it back and been hinting at this one quite a while.
Our college kid in Ohio used this as a commuter only to school. he is not the true rider type.
So its not been dogged or raced. However also being a college kid, he took care of it as many of them do (translation=neglect )
So it sat in the sun, under trees, etc with little maintenance. When I found him a bigger bike to ride, as he is around 6'4" and 280, I took that bike up to him and traded off.
Got it home and first thing the carbs were plugged and the overall look was of neglect, period. Well, as I do not sell junk, it was immediately torn down to tank off, seat removed, super show cleaned and all mechanics and electrical checked from top to bottom. I could not get the paint to renew back to MY personal specs, so I called on Misfit who is also a top notch mechanic to do a complete repaint and rebuild the carbs, plus to recheck it from top to bottom in case I missed anything. So, I say better than new because it has been checked by not one, but two mechanics and the dealer doesn't even do that, new or used.
So....
2007 Kawasaki Vulcan 500 (same engine as the ninja, I been told ) I know they are da** quick.
They no longer make this model and they sell hot, at least around here as many are looking for mid sized commuters.
1700 miles
Top to bottom mechanical check, twice.
Tuneup
Oil Change
Solo seat conversion
Spanking new gloss black paint, badges removed (AWESOME job by Misfit )
The Bad:
Slight rust on the exhaust pipes. I removed most of it, but if someone wants to take the time to pull them off, they could get it all off, or rechrome. Not blatantly visible as is. Replacements are available, but they are stupid priced, I will be honest as I thought about replacing them. And whoever decided a 500 needed a system with a crossover pipe to balance it is an idiot. Misfit said If I wished, he would wrap them in pipe gauze, but he is a gauze junkie anyway.
$3000. Turn the key and haul Ass.

Ok, just got the shiny new title today. Last chance before it hits the public ads.

Good Looking Bike. Did you try Glazing Compond on the paint. I use 3M Hand glaze compound to bring back that Glassy look. Then some Insulator wax. Yes, I have some. I'm going to have to put my wife back to work, I'm missing to many good deals.

It has fresh paint. It was too far gone in my personal care and opinion of it. I do my best to sell stuff in the best shape I can.

Re: Better than new Kawasaki Vulcan 500
Took awhile to put that all together. All pieces were searched, found, ordered and then assembled separately. Bracket, plate frame, cateye taillight, skull bolts and then LED redeye skull bolts.
14 skulls on that piece alone.

It's not like you are selling puppies and kittens for shark bait. Some people are just jerks.

How dare you call me a Nazi. From now on I will flag ALL of your posts.Dragon wrote:Well, it must be TOO good a deal for the bike, the post nazis on CL are flagging it off. Jackasses.
I posted the same add that I always put on CL for the forum. And it gets flagged all the time. But it takes 3 people to flag it and then CL decides if it should be taken off.

Re: Better than new Kawasaki Vulcan 500
I dont think CL even looks at them. I think it auto pulls it and then auto sends an email after 3 flags. Easy enough to make 3 profiles.
I reposted it with like 2 sentences, a phone number and pics. They flagged it again.
Some jackasses are flagging it because mine is a better deal than the ones they want twice for, I figure.
