Sticky ?? Anti Virus
There are several versions out , I got nabbed by Anti Virus AntiSpyware2011 this morning ..
It is able to bypass your firewall , I have McAfee ..
It downloads without your permission , and all of a sudden , you have a new security program ..
The appearance mimics the windows program , and you constantly get pop ups telling you the computer is infected , and wants you to buy the program ( I didnt ) to clean the system ..
From what I read , the people who buy it are sending their money to Europe , and getting nothing in return ..
I found several manual ways to clear it , and they didnt werk , and are very intensive things to do ..
I ended up buying the Malwarebytes antimalware program for $25 and it cleaned it out for me ..

I got the same thing a couple weeks ago.. I tried system restore, but it disabled it. I finally ended up wiping the computer and starting over.. No more porn sites.

Re: Sticky ?? Anti Virus
The thing to remember is know your own Anti Virus program and what it looks like. When you receive a pop up from Antivirus 2011 or 2010 or 2009 or 2008, kill the screen, it is only a pop up at that point. If you click on the free removal that pop up offers, you just got yourself a genuine trojan of various origins. It can take over your internet explorer and make it to where you can not surf to find a fix.
As everyone said above, it is an ugly monster to get rid of if you have never done it. There are a few programs like malwarebytes that has been successful in getting it deleted from your computer.
Be safe out there!!!

Malwarebytes also comes in a free version that removes it as well.
Also, you can manually download and run Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool,it works on it.(Also free.)
I'm a big fan of free!
Avast makes a good free anti-virus,and even Microsoft has a free anti-virus now,Microsoft Security Essentials, that works pretty well.

Re: Sticky ?? Anti Virus
like what was said before, it is only a pop up just dont click on anything on that window, the best and quickest thing to do is to push and hold alt and hit f4 that is a current window shut down, it is easy to try just open another internet window and try it, so if that window pop up shows up and showing that it wants you to click here to do whatever just push and hold alt and then push f4 and you may have to push f4 several times but it will shut down that window if there is a smaller microsoft window pops up asking if you are sure click on yes, just read what it says. I often use mulitple tabs in the same window of my internet explorer so the alt f4 will only work if you read that little window and it is asking if you want to close all windows or current window, just click on all and get back to desk top, hope this helps

My desktop has a booger on it now...got it from an email. It'll boot up as far as a blank (wallpaper is there, no icons or tool bar) desktop then a box with "Palladium" on it pops up. Can't be X'd out. Don't know what I'm gonna do about this one....

Re: Sticky ?? Anti Virus
If it is the one that bit me a few months ago it takes over your start up page. Go and turn it off the "Custom" setting and put it back on what you had to begin with. Then download AVAST anti virus. (I use the free version that you have ot reinstall once a month).
Problem solved.
And its way cheaper than McAfee and Norton who I'm convinced are behind the majority of computer viruses out there.

Fire McAfee and Norton
I've had 100% success with a combination of Microsoft Security Solutions, which my computer guru tells me is now the benchmark for virus protection, and Malwarebytes for spyware, adware, and the like. Many, many years ago I discovered Norton and McAfee aren't worth the keystrokes to install them.
AVG (AGV?) was pretty good before Microsoft Security Solutions came along.
The advice to know you security program's appearance and be alert to very close imitators is well taken.
