I am looking for some saddle bags for my '07 Street Bob. I know the space is tight so this will have to be something made for this bike. I would prefer the slanted bags but am open to all possibilities.
Thank for your time. Very Happy

Always beware of cheap saddlebags. This is one of those things that "better" will save you $$ and aggravation in the long run.

Well at leatherup, they have several price ranges to choose from. And buyer reviews to help. A good amount of their stuff is lower priced, but not crappy materials. We bought a strap on sissy bar bag, one of the big ones that has the round roll that attaches on top for a very low price, but it very heavy duty and have never had a problem with it. And I know several others that buy from there.

JMunsey, I hear ya loud and clear there! These bags I'm looking at are, basically, plastic. Waterproof. Don't care the materials, I want waterproof. This is a test run. I may hate saddlebags on my Bob.

Dragon, I love the reviews. I'm just worried about them fitting my bike and how I want to mount them...zip off/hard mount.

Well from what I read, a medium is the most recommended size. I am always careful about zipoff or throwovers getting too close to the wheel. And if you go that way I suggest mounting brackets either bought or made. You will also want to check and recheck where it rubs if at all and attach felt or something to keep from rubbing any paint off, especially the fender.

Some pics. These came from fox creek, but they look large sized to me:

Some that fox creek sells, shown on Street Bobs:

A little harder look that comes with supports and all. Note though that they are a newer seller with low sales. Use caution.

Another huge outlet is motorcycle superstore. Never shopped from them, but they are a 4.5 star rated google business and also have lots of reviews:

The Ebay one doesn't scare me as badly because they've got a 100% rating. The price is a bit ugly but it does at least include the mounting brackets.

Thank you for the great options!!! What a Face

Quite welcome. And brackets run around 50 and up just by themselves. Wink

So a hard mounted bag would be best? I've seen zip off and someother kind and then hard mounted.

Not sure I would trust the zip off kind. Even hard mounted bags usually have a quick disconnect or something to remove them. It all kind of depends on how they mount. The ones I never liked are the kind that just lay across the bike. You have to make sure you get the mount to go behind them to keep them from rubbing the back wheel. Rivco (Rivco.com I think) has some neat looking hard bags. I am sure there are many others. Just be weary of cheap bags and mounts. JP Cycles probably has a lot of them. Just go on down to bike week and check them all out!! Vendors everywhere...along with cold beer!

I have a set of zip off's on my fatboy and love them. Put them on when needed and remove them when you don't. You can put everything in them and then zip them off like a suitcase.

Do you have to install some kind of bracing to keep them from flopping about or rubbing the wheel, shock, swing arm, etc?

The bags will go under the seat. If you get a smaller set of bags you may not need anything else. At the worst you will need a set of supports to keep them from rubbing. But they dont cost that much.

Harley has bag supports , and J&P as well as Dennis Kirk have them for half what Harley wants ..

Sweetie has Willie and Max zip offs without supports , no issues at all , the rear shocks keep them off the tire
