ALABAMA ABATE CHAPTER!! Finally!!
Looks like someone took the initiative and started up an Alabama abate group. Called Dixie Abate. I just joined up today. Hey! We need all the help we can get these days in just keeping the rights we currently have. I would recommend everyone invest $20 to join up.

Great!
I went over to the Gulf Coast abate meeting in Pcola weekend before last. I even joined them for a year. Great people. Just good to have our own group for a change.

If you would like a full size pdf copy of this please let me know and I will email. I was not sure how to attach the actual document here. This is a great and worthwhile organization to join and impacts every rider. I hope everyone in this forum joins up.

Re: ALABAMA ABATE CHAPTER!! Finally!!
Hey! I went ahead and took their logo and had my own magnetic abate signs made up. I ended up buying 4 of them but only need two for my truck. You are welcome to the other two if ya like. Helps get the word out. Just let me know.

Everyone should help get this new Alabama organization for motorcyclists rights get established. They look out for everyone and do many things that the AMA does not do. Heck! I have always made donations to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.....but that does not mean that I cannot also donate to the Disabled Veterans Organization as well.
Nuthin personal here...just my 2 cents worth......adjusted for inflation!

I had to stop myself here....took me a few minutes....it is not easy having such a sick, cynical, warped, ex-submarine sailor, biker sense of humor ya know.....all the answers that danced thru my mind (or what is left of it!)....and none of them clean or pure!!!!!
But you mean the signs!!!!????
They are 8 1/2 X 11"....just about the exact size of a sheet of paper. They are in color with the abate logo and website underneath. I have a lot of magnetic signs on my truck as it is. Now I have 2 abate signs on the tailgate and 1 on each door....that may be a little over kill. Real problem is that it is getting warm outside now and my truck stays in the garage a lot and the word does not get out.
Thinking of getting one of those cheap 4x8 flatbed trailers from harbor freight. Then hitching it up to my sidecar rig and going to the feed store to buy hay using that. I can just visualize that Harley and sidecar and trailer pulling hay back home.
But.....I digress.......

Right before I hit send I thought "should I reword that?" *snort*
Hauling hay with your bike...why not? But I'd hook it to the bike, not the sidecar. JMHO

Re: ALABAMA ABATE CHAPTER!! Finally!!
I actually have a 2 inch receiver connected to the sidecar frame and it runs right in the middle of the bike and sidecar...kinda directly in the middle.

Ooooohhh....it
It's still an off center pull. How odd.... But, hey, whatever works.

Do they support a writen & riding test for motorcycles in Alabama? This si the biggest thing we are trying to advocate in the AMA for the state of Alabama.

Re: ALABAMA ABATE CHAPTER!! Finally!!
All these are great questions!!! That is why they have ABATE!! To help find answers to things like that and lobby for and against other things we don't want! What a great example of why every rider should join!
I hope no one really expected my rattled and pickled brain to know all that stuff! Any organization that will get in there and be a thorn in the side of any government gets my $20.
I honestly can't remember the last time I took a written or road test....for anything! Although I did teach the MSF course for a few years down near Orlando, FL. But even that was a good 16 years ago. This gettin old thing is starting to really suck! Still......have been unable to find a better alternative yet!!

Re: ALABAMA ABATE CHAPTER!! Finally!!
I work with the Alabama Motorcycle Safety Program and they are attempting a couple of pieces of legislation:
1 Getting the state to recognize a course completion card in lieu of taking the written test. The thought is that this will encourage riders to take a skills course
I can't remember the second, but it too is realted to kills improvement.
