New in town biker chick..
I have a friend from another forum that just moved to Foley. She wants me to show her the "good" roads around here.. Like twisty scenic roads..
The only thing that comes to mind is maybe 225 and Bromley rd.
I really suck at this sort of thing..
Any input would be great. Also if any of y'all wanna come I think we are doing it this Saturday. The 28th. Whatever "it" might be.

There is a road out my way that has nick wanting to come back with his bike. Not sure of the road names or numbers but if you are in the area of airport blvd & university blvd you can come by the shop and I will tell you where it is. If you tell nick your going out there he will probly join you.

Re: New in town biker chick..
59 above stockton is a fare ride but not sure how long of a ride you want to make it ends up close to Monroeville. There are quit a few roads off 59 that are good rides but I dont remember the names right now, if you want I can look at a map book and get names. There is not much in the way of twistys in this area. A good day trip is above monroeville going to Camden on 21 and 41 but that is a good full day ride but a lot of curves and country viewing.

I grew up in M'ville and the road between there and Camden is super choice!

Re: New in town biker chick..
Thanks Camo, I know it is the float seats, so I just ordered a set of four that are viton tiped instead of rubber (works better with ethanol)! I also have ordered a SS bolt kit for the carbs and motor, so we will have plenty of fun stuff to play with! I will not have it ready for the weekend ride, but it looks like the weather is not going to allow riding anyway, at least not dry riding for you hardcore guys....Me...I don't really like riding in the rain! I only do it if I get caught! I hope to get it all done before the end of next week, but I will be at the mercy of the delivery of the parts, and my float seats are coming from Japan!!!

Good luck with the bike Twisted. If tomorrow is anything like today the ride is a no go for me too. I will ride in the rain, but not for fun,..

Re: New in town biker chick..
I have great rain gear so the rain doesnt bother me. but I do try to drive teh truck from time to time just to keep the battery up. No wonder my 92 truck only has 166K miles on it. I think I drove it 4k miles last year and 1600 of that was a trip to oklahoma and back on the holiday season.
Sucks to wait for parts from Japan. I was lucky on teh XS got my parts coming from mikes XS in floride, They have a terrible reputation, but I need the parts so I gave me a try. Should be here early next week sometime.

Re: New in town biker chick..
What kind of rain gear are you sporting I just ripped the seat outta mine they were real old. I have heard of frogg toggs being pretty decent but I'm still shopping. As far as good twisties I'm always down to learn some new routes. But all I know around here is traffic and stop lights

Re: New in town biker chick..
I got desperate for some rain gear and went to Walmart and bought a Coleman Jacket and pants.. Together it was over $70. The pants blow up my legs a little and my jeans get wet.. The jacket is nice, but the water comes in through the zipper getting my chest wet.
I really wish I had found some frog Togs. Everybody says they are great.

Yeah I bought a set of Stearns from wal-mart and the pants didn't even last a single season. I still have the rain jacket but honestly what is the point? LOL

Re: New in town biker chick..
The first suit I bought from Walmart was one of the cheap ones.. Made out of plastic material. I was about 70 miles into my wet road trip and looked down and the pants were shredded to ribbons and just flailing in the wind... I laughed out loud it was so funny looking. The jacket lasted a little longer before it shredded.draconis wrote:Yeah I bought a set of Stearns from wal-mart and the pants didn't even last a single season. I still say ebay is the best place for frog toggs.
And it's easy to find roads, you point the bike and go.

I'm finding more and more that I dont like my frog togs, but not everybody has the same proportions as me.

If you are just looking for curves, you might try Lake Forest.
