So....where do you hang out?

edera and I moved to Mobile last November. So we are still in the noob stage of finding good places to attend, hang out, party, etc. I am surprised to see being this is a coastal area that so far I have seen no true "Biker" bars, no matter what the make of ride. Am hearing a little about Boondocks and more recently the chrome horse pub over in Silverhill but haven't been to either just yet. We were very active in H.O.G. in alexandria La. but haven't re-registered here just yet ( they do 9 AM meetings, I am not much of a morning person, lol )

So, what's the scoop? Any good places around, or the the city fathers have laws so tight such a bar cannot be run or what? Any other good places to check out?

There is a place on hwy 158 called BURN OUT. I went ther once and was not impressed. BUT I dont drink now so I dont go to bars.

Aw shoot, wish I had read this earlier, we already went out to dinner and just now got back, a ride would have been fun.

Drinkin is not a deal breaker, just that live bands, runs, rallies,etc seem to go hand in hand with it,lol. Bars sell coca-cola as well, edera has several friends in Ohio that do not drink either but they hit the bars with the rest of their friends and just drink cokes.

I've been to them all and so far I haven't been really impressed. After hitting all the "big time forums" I figured the local forum thing would be a good way to get some local riders together with the same interest. This should be a good way to meet some new riders and set up some rides to some new places.......

I'm all for that.

Be glad you stayed home. We got about 7 miles and ran into a storm. Stoped for about ten minute's and let it slack up and went home. I hate ridin in an early rain. Too much oil still on the roads.

Yea. I've been a recovering alcoholic for over 20 years. I just stay away from bars and temptation.

Hayweed you told me about this site.( Mickey) Yea its hard you lose a few friends but were they really friends?or just drinking friends. I started at a early age like 13 but got real bad in the army. 54 now and like you stay away.

I was wondering if that was you. Glad to see you made it here. I think we all need to get together and put a ride together. Try to meet face to face. I think we can make this forum work if we can get a few more members.

Sounds good to me. New forums always grow slow, just have to hang in there and not get discouraged from posting. Well, this and the next weekend we have booked up for Ren Faires in Tenn. and Atlanta. Not going to be riding to them as I have not yet figured out how to strap 3 suitcases on the back,lol.(we dress the part)

I will relay a very funny story about an event I was in up North. I use to ride with Rolling Thunder, and a group of about 8 bikes were out on a day trip (joy ride) and we decided to stop a get something cold to drink, only two order the beer, the rest ordered cold tea, water or soda. Our Vice President say that we were becoming a group of OLD bikers because none of us drank anymore between the recovering Alcoholics, the ones with diabetes, and people like me who just don't drink much, it was a real parody of the leather clad, rocker bound image. We all kind of laughed that one off.
