Force Fitting Empty Force Fitting

Post by Guest Sat May 29, 2010 11:00 pm

Well I just spent the last hour tearing apart a set of stock Road King grips to fit on my PAG Spyder. It was not as hard as I thought it would be but, it took longer than I originally thought. I had to cut the inside ring off & use the throttle side on the opposite side. This was a pretty fun project & now I finally got those god awful foam grips off of my bike. If I paint the weighted end caps black I think it will look pretty cool. It has that old school rubber grip look.

The Road King grips let me get a lot more vibration compared to the foam grips. Not saying I like that either ha. I can live with it though. I am going to rough up the end caps & paint them black. I think that will look better to me.

The thing that really has me down is the fact that I would have to add a ton of wire to get the electronics covered properly without being the poor stock plastic covers that break in a week. There is a black wire box that takes on water when it rains & shorts out the bike not letting it run. I have an old harley air cleaner cover that I may be able to modify & use it as a cover. I think that it would work & last a lot longer than the stock plastic cover. Wouldn't it be a trip to see an 80's air cleaner on a Spyder 250.

Quit doin 200 mph on that thing, it will quit snappin stuff off. Razz

Dunno though ray, seriously not sure why all that has come off. Not too many have had that issue, save for a few breaking side cover snaps. Maybe get someone to make some metal side covers would help to cover the wiring up better. edera has metals on hers, but they need tweaked a little more to fit properly IMO.

Best I could find when I checked with everyone I knew, was carbon fiber. Which would be really cool if they wouldn't break, & he assured me that they would not break. But, I would have to buy a new set if they still (PAG) offer them. Last I heard they were running low ha ha. Plus I am pretty sure that the making of the carbon fiber ones would cost a bit too.

I've got some sheet metal and an 18" break. Is it something we could make?
